Beginning April 1, 2025, Receiving Depository Financial Institutions (RDFIs) must respond to an Originating Depository Financial Institution’s (ODFI’s) Request for Return within 10 banking days of receiving the request. (nacha.org)
Key Details:
• RDFI’s Obligation: Must inform the ODFI of its decision or provide a status update within 10 banking days.
• Optional Compliance: RDFIs are not required to return funds, but they must respond to the request.
• Communication Method: The rule does not mandate a specific communication method; RDFIs may use existing channels such as Nacha’s Risk Management Portal or the ACH Contact Registry.
